Will you be able to cope with my loved one's dementia?
For most people who are living with dementia Prospect House will be a great choice. It’s primarily a luxury residential care home that has the expertise to deal with dementia for those people whose condition may be more advanced.
The home has two dedicated suites, providing 24 hour specialist care for residents who are living with dementia. Dividing the home into smaller groups of residents in this way will help your loved one to quickly feel comfortable and at home, and helps our staff to truly get to know them and their unique needs.
The highly skilled, specialist dementia team members, led by mental health nurses, understand the challenges of living with dementia and will gently accompany your loved one on their journey whilst being encouraging, supporting and reassuring at all times. Our two suites have features which help to assist with the progressive nature of dementia. These include safe and secure gardens where your loved one can enjoy the fresh air and outdoor activity, and safe internal walkways where the overriding aim is to offer a warm, homely environment.
We recognise that excellent care for your loved one is as much about them enjoying life and looking forward to the days ahead as it is them being in an environment where fun, laughter and friendship are encouraged, promoting their physical and emotional well-being. They will be supported to participate in as many of the many social activities as they choose or are able to. Our well organised and scheduled activities programme alongside our Namaste Care programme, which has enhanced the lives of our residents including those with advanced dementia, will help create the right balance for them.

My father was cared for at Prospect House for the last eight months of his life until he died peacefully in his sleep.
When he moved to Prospect House he had advanced dementia and so was unable to understand his own needs or situation. It was very difficult to make a decision on his behalf but we are so grateful that he was able to be cared for here as the staff were extremely kind, competent and knowledgeable and ensured that he was well looked after and that he received the help and support that he needed.
Other visitors often commented on the good care they observed. We were always confident that our father was safe, that the home was well staffed and that the residents were regularly monitored both day and night. My father seemed to adjust well to living there and to appreciate the care he was receiving.

What will their room be like?
Your loved one's room will be extremely well appointed and tastefully decorated to the highest standard.
However, it's really important that someone who is living with dementia has familiar surroundings so they feel calm and relaxed. So, we'd love you to bring their own ornaments, treasured mementos and small furniture items to make their room their own. We'll even re-decorate it in line with their home decor to truly make it feel like home, if you'd like.
All rooms are spacious and bright, from both natural and artificial light. This light and airy feel contributes to a feeling of calm, as does the view of the gardens and countryside beyond the home.

Conveying the depth of care and expertise provided at a care home is difficult. After all, everyone says they have brilliant care. We truly believe you'll find the care your loved one experiences at Prospect House is the very best available. Here are a few things we hope will demonstrate that.
Transformations. Families are frequently amazed by the positive transformation in their loved one when they come to Prospect House, both physically and mentally.
In fact, the most common comment we get when someone has moved in and experienced at first hand the great life they now enjoy here is 'I wish I'd done it much sooner!'
